Position Description: The primary responsibility of a Busser/Runner is to assist with the operations of the front and back of house. The Busser/Runner must reset tables in a speedy, professional, and effective manner as guests leave the restaurant; and to bring food and drinks out to customers once they have ordered. Bussers/Runners are also responsible for the grooming of the entire restaurant and its perimeters, supporting service staff with refills and clearing tables, and assisting in the fulfillment of various ticket items.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Resetting and cleaning around tables after customers leave the restaurant
  • Carrying dishes to and from the kitchen into the service area
  • Maintaining the overall cleanliness of the bakery
  • Assisting service staff with fulfilling orders
  • Managing tickets so as to ensure that all items in a customer’s order are served to them in a timely and courteous manner

Job Tasks:

  • Obtain service area assignments at the beginning of each shift
  • Promptly greet guests with a smile as they enter the bakery and guide them to the ordering area
  • Quietly and promptly clean and sanitize tabletops, chairs, highchairs, and booths after guests leave
  • Take tableware to dishwashing station and place silverware, dishes, glassware, etc. in appropriate areas for washing
  • Assist in cleaning up spills
  • Constantly check the floor and clean as required
  • Reset and arrange tabletops
  • Inspect restrooms every 15 minutes, clean, and restock as needed
  • Respond appropriately to guest requests and either assist the guest or communicate the request to a service staff member immediately
  • Communicate with service staff members to assure efficient seating, table utilization, and customer service
  • Deliver food and drinks to tables, following all food safety guidelines
  • Restock dining area utensils, napkins, creamers, water pitcher, etc.
  • Smile and thank guests as they are leaving
  • Show flexibility in terms of your schedule to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the manager or supervisor
  • Maintain a high level of personal cleanliness
  • Be a team player, always helping out fellow employees when possible
  • Maintain regular attendance or punctuality

Physical Requirements:

  • Be able to fulfill physical requirements of a Busser/Runner’s job – carrying heavy trays (20 LBs at least) for long periods of time
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time

Position Description: A counter staff member/cashier is responsible for offering exceptional customer service, generating sales, housekeeping, merchandising, signing, pricing, POS/cash register operation, and loss prevention in adherence to all company standards.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Ensure that each customer receives outstanding customer service by proving a positive experience via a friendly environment, greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of customer service
  • Maintaining an awareness of all product information, merchandise promotions, sample merchandise and advertisements
  • Anticipate store environment by constantly evaluating environment and customers for cues
  • Oversee and execute the overall cleanliness and orderly operation of work station
  • Follow all operational policies and procedures, including those for cash handling and security to ensure the safety of all staff members during each shift
  • Follow health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products

Job Tasks

Position Description: A Front of House Supervisor oversees all front of house (FOH) operations and provides leadership for front of house staff members. The position requires in-depth knowledge of the work function and the ability to motivate employees to meet Lilac Pâtisserie’s expectations and goals.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Manage the entire front of house staff by being in charge of group dynamics, operations, and performance.
  • Act as model employee by demonstrating excellent work ethic and performance.
  • Ensure that all team members are working to their full potential to meet the company’s expectations for quality, productivity, and cleanliness.
  • Act as liaison between Management and the rest of the FOH staff, to answer questions and guide team members in their job functions.
  • Act as a mentor, develop other FOH staff members, and encourage others to set goals and strive for advancement in the organization.

  • Represent Lilac Pâtisserie by being the face of the front-of-house staff: monitoring the floor, being the point of contact for complaints, visiting tables and conversing with customers to ensure service is up to company standards, and creating a welcoming atmosphere for customers.
  • Assist with bank deposits and employee tips
  • Be fully versed in all aspects of each FOH position and shift duties
  • Manage schedules and coordinate staffing, act as point-of-contact when issues arise, and cover shifts for employees when they are absent from work.
  • Organize, track, and stock inventory and assist in ordering more stock when necessary.
  • Manage employees’ performance and institute progressive discipline and/or corrective actions, when needed
  • Uphold and enforce safety standards of company: through proper signage, FIFO, managing food handler’s cards, proper use of equipment and preventative maintenance, etc.
  • Manage all email inquiries for orders and special requests.

Position Description: The Barista provides excellent customer service with prompt drink preparation and quality beverages and products in a clean and comfortable store environment.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Preparation of all hot and cold beverages, such as coffee, espresso drinks, teas, iced tea, and cold brew coffee, including house-made coffee flavorings; must possess great attention to detail in order to follow recipes and procedures 
  • Oversee and execute the timely fulfillment of drink orders and ensure that other items (food, pastries, etc.) arrive to the customers 
  • Anticipate store environment by constantly evaluating environment and customers for cues
  • Oversee and execute the overall cleanliness and orderly operation of coffee/bus station
  • Follow all operational policies and procedures, including those for cash handling and security to ensure the safety of all staff members during each shift
