Lilac Montecito, a new concept focused on full-service fine dining is in search of an Executive Chef to lead our culinary team in preparation of our opening this fall on Coast Village Road in Montecito.
Our sister restaurant, Lilac Pâtisserie, opened in downtown Santa Barbara in 2015 and has become a celebrated space in our community for enjoying breakfast, lunch, coffee, and dessert.

JOB SUMMARY
- Accountable for the quality, consistency and production of the restaurant kitchen

CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED; 4 years experience in the culinary, food and beverage, or related professional area.
OR
- 2-year degree from an accredited university in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 2 years experience in the culinary, food and beverage, or related professional area.
Responsibilities
- Develop and design a daily menu that is seasonal, innovative, and diverse and that aligns with the restaurant’s concept and target clientele
- Oversee the entire kitchen operation, including production schedule, food preparation, cooking, and plating; supervise and manage kitchen employees and day-to-day operations; understand employee positions well enough to perform duties in employees’ absence

Assistant Manager
Position Description
An Assistant Manager oversees front of house (FOH) operations, provides leadership for FOH staff members, and acts in a supportive role to management. The position requires in-depth knowledge of the work function and the ability to motivate employees to meet our expectations and goals.

Position Description

Position Description
The primary responsibility of a Busser/Runner is to assist with the operations of the front and back of house. The Busser/Runner must reset tables in a speedy, professional, and effective manner as guests leave the restaurant; and to bring food and drinks out to customers once they have ordered. Bussers/Runners are also responsible for the grooming of the entire restaurant and its perimeters, supporting service staff with refills and clearing tables, and assisting in the fulfillment of various ticket items.

Cake Maker
Position Description
We pride ourselves on our incredibly decorated and delicious cakes and we are currently seeking an individual to join our growing business as a Cake Maker as soon as possible. The Cake Maker is responsible for the execution of the filling and icing of all cakes as well as assisting in decoration of cakes and preparation of recipes for fillings, icings, sponges, etc.
Major Areas of Responsibility
- Cut, fill, and ice all layer cakes
- Assist with decoration of layer cakes and desserts

Floor Manager
Position Description
A Floor Manager oversees restaurant operations and provides leadership for staff members. The position requires in-depth knowledge of the work function and the ability to motivate employees to meet Lilac Montecito’s expectations and goals.
Major Areas of Responsibility
- Manage the entire staff by being in charge of group dynamics, operations, and performance.
- Act as model employee by demonstrating excellent work ethic and performance.
- Ensure that all team members are working to their full potential to meet the company’s expectations for quality, productivity, and cleanliness.
- Act as liason between Front of House and Back of House to ensure smooth operations and accurate and timely order fulfillment.
- Act as liaison between Management and the rest of the staff, to answer questions and guide team members in their job functions.
- Act as a mentor, develop other staff members, and encourage others to set goals and strive for advancement in the organization.
- Ensure excellent customer service by addressing customer concerns and resolving any issues that arise.
- Provide guidance and support to staff during busy periods or challenging situations.
- Handle cash transactions and operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately.
- Maintain inventory levels and order supplies as necessary
- Work to meet target sales numbers, profit margins, and labor cost budgeting
Job Tasks
- Represent Lilac Montecito by being the face of the front-of-house staff: monitoring the floor, being the point of contact for complaints, visiting tables and conversing with customers to ensure service is up to company standards, and creating a welcoming atmosphere for customers.
- Oversee smooth kitchen operations, anticipating production and staffing needs.
- Be fully versed in all aspects of each position and shift duties
- Manage schedules and coordinate staffing, act as point-of-contact when issues arise, and cover shifts for employees when they are absent from work.
- Organize, track, and stock inventory and assist in ordering more stock when necessary.
- Manage employees’ performance and institute progressive discipline and/or corrective actions, when needed.
- Uphold and enforce safety standards of company: through proper signage, FIFO, managing food handler’s cards, proper use of equipment and preventative maintenance, etc.
- Manage customer inquiries, via email, phone, or in person.
